Firewire was developed by apple, USB was developed to compete, both are equally used, Most modern Macs--except for the MacBook Air and some MacBook models--offer both FireWire and USB connections. When shopping for an external hard drive, then, you have many options for something that will work with your Mac. Today, USB hard drives are more common and less expensive than FireWire or even FireWire/USB combo drives.

An IP address is apart of the modern world. IP addresses allows thousands of computers to connect to each other. An IP address consists of four numbers, each of which contains one to three digits, with a single dot (.) separating each number or set of digits. Each of the four numbers can range from 0 to 255. Here's an example of what an IP address might look like: 78.125.0.209. It's important because it shows us what device is whcih and how unique it is to the device
